LUMI is great for players of all ages. Its integrated learning experience suits younger players as well as older learners. The DS5.5® keys are differently sized to normal piano keys and more comfortable to play for people with smaller hands, including children.

LUMI KEYS: Can I play LUMI Keys on its own without an app?
No. LUMI Keys is a MIDI controller rather than a standalone synthesizer. That means you will need to connect to the LUMI app — or other desktop or mobile music making software — to make sound.

LUMI KEYS: How many LUMI Keys can I play together?
The DNA connectors on LUMI Keys let you snap multiple together to instantly create a larger keyboard.
The LUMI app supports a 48 key keyboard: two LUMI Keys together.
If you’re a more advanced music maker, connect to ROLI Studio Player on desktop and snap 3 or 4 LUMI Keys together to play a 72 or 96 key instrument.

LUMI KEYS: Is LUMI compatible with existing ROLI instruments?
Yes, LUMI Keys features the same DNA connectors as ROLI BLOCKS. Connect to ROLI Dashboard on desktop, then simply click a Lightpad Block, Seaboard Block, Loop Block or Live Block to your LUMI Keys to expand your instrument.
The LUMI app is only compatible with LUMI Keys — it will not work with ROLI Seaboards or BLOCKS

LUMI KEYS: Can I use LUMI Keys with other ROLI software?
Yes! LUMI will come bundled with ROLI Studio Player, ROLI’s desktop application featuring hundreds of sounds and tools for creating your own tracks.
There’s good news for mobile music makers too. By December 2019 an update to ROLI’s NOISE app will let you pair and play with LUMI Keys.

LUMI KEYS: Will the lights on LUMI Keys work with third party software?
For full smart functionality of LUMI Keys, you’ll need to use LUMI with the bundled ROLI Studio Player for desktop at launch. Without ROLI Studio Player, LUMI works as a standard MIDI keyboard with three different colored lighting modes. However we’re working to expand third party software support over time!

LUMI KEYS: Does LUMI Keys support MIDI over USB?
LUMI Keys is a fully class compliant MIDI over USB device, so it will work with all MIDI compatible software. All you have to do is plug it in to your computer with the supplied USB-C to USB-A and it will appear as a MIDI device in your DAW.

The LUMI Keys battery provides up to 6 hours of playing time — or up to 17 hours in energy saver mode — all on a single charge.

LUMI KEYS: Is LUMI Keys MPE-compatible?
Unlike other ROLI instruments, LUMI Keys is not fully MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) compatible. It is one of very few MIDI controllers to have polyphonic aftertouch, which makes it more expressive than standard keyboards.
As LUMI Keys is not fully MPE-compatible, you will not be able to use it to play 5D (MPE) sounds. However, plenty of fantastic 2D presets will be available for LUMI Keys in ROLI Studio Player for desktop and the updated version of the NOISE app. So you’ll have more than enough sounds to start making your own music!

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
